Welcome to the Red Maple part of the website! This program is for students in grades 7 and 8 only.
NOMINATED BOOKS
Here is a link to the nominated books: Red Maple 2016 Nominated Titles
Ms. da Silva has one copy of the books and the library has two. However, you are encouraged to use the public library because unfortunately, there are more of you than there are copies.
TWITTER
There is a special Twitter account for the Forest of Reading. Please follow us @brockps_forest. If you don't have Twitter, you are welcome to come during club meetings to explore the tweets. You can also tweet out your thoughts or even write to the authors. You never know...they might reply back!
CLUB
If you want to be in the Red Maple Club, you are welcome to come to the library Mondays at lunch to read, check out books, or use the Twitter account. Hope to see you there!
FESTIVAL OF TREES
We would like as many of you as possible to come to the awards ceremony at Harbourfront this May! It will be a fun day of celebrating reading and meeting the authors. This year, we are asking you to sign a contract. We would like a commitment that you will try to read at least 3 titles by May 17.
We are also asking that you pay for your ticket at the end of January so that we can avoid buying more tickets than we need. If for whatever reason you can't come to the awards, you will be refunded. More info will be given in class.
If you read at least 5 of the titles, you can vote for your favourite in April and I will include your vote with all the other voters in Ontario. The winner will be announced in May.
I hope you have a great time reading and talking about the Red Maple books. It's going to be a lot of fun!
