(SPOILERS) I really liked The Hunger Games because the chapters were all really excitement filled. I was really shocked when Primrose's name was pulled out of the jar because she was only 11 years old and the chances of survival were super slim. I was kind of happy when Katniss stepped in to save her sister, but also sad because Katniss is my favourite character. I was also surprised when Peeta and Katniss had to rival against each other because they were both good friends and they had to kill each other. I was happy when they didn't want to kill each other and were both declared winners.
I would recommend this book for people who like adventure stories, but the book is more of an intermediate read for grades 6-8. Lastly, this book does have a lot, a lot of violence and fighting. Remember that before you read it.
Like I said before, the book has a lot of violence and mature content, so it isn't recommended for anyone younger than grade 6. It is also a bit of a sad story, but other than that, it is a really good book.

The Jewel (First book in the Lone City series)

(SPOILER ALERT) The most disappointing part of the book was the romance between Ash and Violet. I felt that the romance was rushed in as if the author has forgotten to add the romance and suddenly included it. The author thought that adding a dangerous element to their relationship would intrigue the readers. In the novel, Violet is the surrogate for the duchess of the lake and is not allowed to date. However, Ash waltzes in the story and Violet falls for him. Ash is a companion for the duchess's niece, a beastly girl named Carnelian. Carnelian turns suspicious of Ash and Violet's relationship when Ash turns dreamy eyed and loses focus during their lessons together. Overall, I did not like the romance in the novel because of how rushed everything was and how the author wrote about the romance. However, I did like the novel, sadly just not the relationship between Ash and Violet.
I would recommend this book for people who like reading through first person's point of views as the novel is seen by Violet's eyes only. People who enjoyed The Selection series by Kiera Cass will enjoy The Jewel. The Jewel has a similar lay out of the world. The Selection series has castes deciding how you live and The Jewel has five circles, which is almost identical to The Selection. The Jewel also has a princess theme; balls, dances, dresses, and royalty. I suggest reading The Jewel is you love reading first person novels, The Selection series by Kiera Cass, and princess themed books.
I would not suggest reading The Jewel if you hate badly written romance. The book's last 100 pages was on full blast, horribly written romance. Normally I would love any romance in a book, but this really hit me. Do not read this book if you do not like cliff hangers at the end of a book. The book's ending is a surprise and makes you want to rip your hair out of your head until the second book of the series is in your hands. If you hate badly written romantic relationships and cliff hangers, then I do not suggest reading The Jewel by Amy Ewing.

The best part about Hatchet was how Brian learned how to adapt to the wilderness and how he would hunt for his food.
I would recommend this book for people who: If you like adventure and based on true story books.
Don't read this book if you: Are disgusted by blood or are about to go on vacation because a plane crashes.
